Welcome to Dumbledore's Hogwarts--Where the Adventure Awaits!

All new members please be sure to read the threads that are Here. They contain vital information.

All new witches and wizards are encouraged to submit their Character Profile. Then, you can get your school supplies and begin exploring the site! Our members are all very friendly and helpful.

We are trying to revitalize the site! Please don't let the site go down the tubes after nearly 4 and a half years of hard work! Just because it was deleted, doesn't mean we can't fix it! We are accepting applications for all staff and administration as well! Also, please be sure to spread the word around to others! Thanks so much! And as always any questions can, as always, be directed to the Headmaster via E-mail, Owl Post, or Messenger.

So, with that being said, please pardon our reconstruction and as always, thanks for your kind consideration to this matter!

[ ]Kitchens
The Hogwarts kitchens are located directly below the Great Hall and are just the same size. They have high ceilings and a great brick fireplace at one end. Mounds of brass pots and pans are heaped around the walls. There are preparation tables directly below the four house tables in the Hall above, and when the time comes for the food to be served, it is magically transported through the ceiling of the kitchen onto the plates. The kitchens are staffed by over a hundred house-elves. To get to the kitchens, take the door to the right of the main staircase in the entrance hall. Follow the corridor until you come to a painting of a bowl of fruit. Tickle the pear and it giggles and becomes a door handle.

Double oak front doors, opening to the west. Large, cavernous room, lit by torches, with ceiling so high it's barely visible. Wide marble staircase opposite the front doors (east wall) leads up to first floor. Double doors to the right (south wall) lead into the Great Hall. On the east wall are two doors, one on either side of the staircase. To the north of the staircase is a door leading down a flight of steps to the first dungeon level. To the south is a door leading to the Hufflepuff common room and the kitchens. On the left (north wall) is a door leading to a smaller antechamber where First Years wait to be sorted.

[ ]Owlery
The Owlery, where the school owls and the owls belonging to students live, is located on the top of West Tower. It is a circular stone room, rather cold and drafty, because none of the windows had glass in them. The floor is entirely covered in straw, owl droppings, and the regurgitated skeletons of mice and voles. Hundreds upon hundreds of owls of every breed imaginable are nestled here on perches that rise right up to the top of the tower, nearly all of them asleep, though here and there a round amber eye glares.

[ ]The Forbidden Forest
To the west of Hogwarts Castle is a large, dark forest. This forest is strictly off limits to Hogwarts students, except in the course of occasional Care of Magical Creatures lessons or detentions. The forest is thick with trees but there are paths, brooks, and some clearings. Off the path, the way is almost impassable, although people have moved through it and creatures as large as Acromantulas and a Ford Anglia have managed to get around. The forbidden forest is home to a wide and strange assortment of creatures. Anything wild and dangerous that needs a place to live is put there.

The Whomping Willow is a very valuable, very violent tree planted alone in the middle of the school grounds. There is a particular knot on the trunk which can be pressed using a long branch in order to stop the attacks.

Hogsmeade
[ ]Hogsmeade (13 sub-boards)
Hogsmeade is the only entirely wizarding village in Britain. It's a picturesque village of little thatched cottages and shops. During the holiday season, enchanted candles hang in the trees. Hogwarts is located quite near the village; a road runs around the school grounds to Hogsmeade Station, where the Hogwarts Express stops to disembark the students at the start of term. According to tradition, Hogsmeade was founded about the same time as Hogwarts by Hengist of Woodcroft, who was fleeing persecution by Muggles.

A visitor to the Ministry of Magic comes to a broken-down red telephone box located on a dingy street which has several shabby offices, a pub, and a wall covered with graffitti. When the telephone in the box is dialed (62442, the word M-A-G-I-C), the welcome witch's voice answers, not from the phone but from the air as if the person is standing right there. Visitors must state their business, upon which a silver badge pops out with the visitor's name and purpose of visit. Then the telephone box drops down like a lift for about one minute, after which the visitor is in the Atrium.
